# Why doesn't Clue's cycle length match the app?

A Clue record with is\_predicted\_cycle set to true belongs to a cycle Clue has not completed yet, so its cycle length is Clue's current projection.

**A record with `is_predicted_cycle: true` belongs to a cycle Clue has not completed yet, so `cycle_length_days` is Clue's current projection for that cycle.**

Terra sends one menstruation record for each day of a cycle Clue returns.

* For a cycle Clue has completed, `is_predicted_cycle` is `false` and `cycle_length_days` is the length of that cycle.
* For the cycle still in progress, `is_predicted_cycle` is `true`. `cycle_length_days` holds Clue's projected length, and `predicted_cycle_length_days` carries the same value.

A projection can change as the cycle goes on, and it will not necessarily match the typical cycle length shown in the Clue app. Records for the same days fetched after Clue completes the cycle carry `is_predicted_cycle: false` and the confirmed length.

{% hint style="info" %}
To act on confirmed cycles only, use records where `is_predicted_cycle` is `false`.
