# How do I enable ping-mode for large payloads?

For large or dense payloads (which can exceed the roughly 8s push timeout and arrive truncated as a `504`, or trip your ingress buffer with codes like `507`), **switch from push to ping/cloud-storage delivery**.

Ping mode is self-serve:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
In the dashboard go to [Connections](https://github.com/tryterra/api-faqs/blob/main/dashboard/connections/README.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Edit the webhook destination.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Switch the **Delivery mode** toggle from Push to Ping.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Save.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

It is per-destination, so set it on each environment. It only affects new data events; anything mid-flight still arrives as a full push.

Alternatively, use a [cloud-storage destination](https://docs.tryterra.co/health-and-fitness-api/integration-setup/setting-up-data-destinations/cloud-storage-s3-gcp) (S3 / Azure Blob / GCS) and trigger ingestion off storage events, which removes the delivery timeout entirely.
