# Why won't the BLE widget find my Garmin watch?

For BLE / realtime heart-rate streaming, the watch must be **actively broadcasting**.

On Garmin devices, enable **Heart rate broadcasting mode** (Broadcast HR) in the watch settings, which starts emitting data over BLE and ANT+.

This is a hardware limitation of the watch, not the API: until broadcasting is enabled, the BLE scanning widget will not detect the device even if the model is supported, and realtime HR cannot [stream](https://docs.tryterra.co/streaming-api/getting-started).
