# Why does Garmin swim data show more laps than the app?

For Garmin swimming activities, the `laps` array is mapped from Garmin 'lengths' (one per pool length) rather than the laps the user marks on the watch, which is why counts differ from the Garmin app. This is an **intentional mapping**.
