# Why am I seeing Android React Native background crashes?

Random background crashes in the React Native plugin on Android were a known issue resolved in later releases. This includes crashes when Health Connect's API request quota is exceeded by frequent connect/disconnect cycles. Newer `terra-react` versions add graceful error handling and quota management, so you get proper error responses instead of crashes.

**Upgrade to the latest `terra-react` version.**

Note a trade-off: newer SDK versions delegate more control to the OS, which reduces crashes but can make background data delivery somewhat less frequent due to OS prioritisation. Older versions sync more eagerly but crash more.

See the [React Native SDK reference](https://docs.tryterra.co/reference/health-and-fitness-api/sdk-references/react-native) for details.
