# Can I get data in imperial units instead of metric?

**All data is normalised to the standard metric/SI units defined in Terra's data models, regardless of the end user's device or provider unit settings. There is no option to receive imperial directly.**

Because every provider is normalised to the same units, you implement the metric-to-imperial conversion once on your side, typically a single multiplication per field.

Units are embedded in the JSON field names (for example duration fields in seconds, distance in metres), so the response structure itself documents each metric's unit. See the [data models reference](https://docs.tryterra.co/reference/health-and-fitness-api/data-models).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.tryterra.co/faq/help-topics/data-api-sdk/data-model-fields-and-units/units-metric-only-no-imperial.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
