# How does the net carbohydrates field work across providers?

The nutrition [data model](https://docs.tryterra.co/reference/health-and-fitness-api/data-models) includes a `macros.net_carbohydrates_g` field even where the docs lag. Documentation is updated periodically as fields are added.

**Providers differ:** some report net carbohydrates separately from total carbohydrates, while others put net values in the `carbohydrates` field, so check per-provider behaviour.

Note that legacy client library packages are not actively updated as newer packages are introduced.
