# Why doesn't the Health Connect permission dialog appear?

This is expected. **Health Connect only shows the permission popup once per permission.**

If `initConnection` was called previously on the same device, the dialog won't reappear but the connection still succeeds. To see it again, reinstall the app or remove the app's permissions in the Health Connect app, then retry.

Always inspect the `error` field in the `initTerra`/`initConnection` response, not just the success status, since a connection can report success while an underlying error is present. See the [Android SDK reference](https://docs.tryterra.co/health-and-fitness-api/mobile-only-sources/android-kotlin).
