# Can I edit a connection's reference ID via the SDK?

You can edit the `reference_id` of an existing user connection **from the Terra dashboard**, by clicking the pencil icon next to the reference ID.

* Modifying it programmatically via the API or backend SDKs is **not supported**.
* On the mobile SDKs, initialising with a new `reference_id` effectively creates a new connection under that reference ID rather than editing the existing one.
